Readers of Whatsonstage Northeast will know that I attend the Royal Variety every year and this year the show is the nearest it has been to the North East, in Blackpool.  A few years ago it was Edinburgh, but this time its across to the Winter Gardens for the show on December 7.

Demand has been so great ticket sales have already been suspended, possibly this is to do with sales being on-line for the first time, as well as by post.

The Royal Party, The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, will have the famous Blackpool illuminations  switched back on especially for them as they travel to the Opera House.

The atmosphere at the “out of London” Royal Variety Performances is always that bit more exciting and the interest and demand in the show this year certainly seems to be continuing that trend, we will let you know.
