We take a look around the recently reopened venue
The brainchild of Buzz Goodbody – the first female director at the RSC – The Other Place started life as a tin shed rehearsal room which was converted into a studio space for contemporary writers in 1974.
In 2005 the building closed and was adapted into a foyer to The Courtyard Theatre – a temporary home for the RSC during the transformation of the Royal Shakespeare and Swan theatres. The shell of The Courtyard Theatre's auditorium was used to create the new The Other Place.
