Peter Pan sequel to receive world premiere

Oxford Playhouse and the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme have announced the world premiere of Peter Pan in Scarlet, an adaptation of the official sequel to Peter Pan.

Based on the original 2006 novel by Geraldine McCaughrean, the story tells of a grown up Wendy and Lost Boys having to shrink down to their former sizes and return to Neverland to help Peter Pan.

The book was originally commissioned by Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, who were gifted all rights to Peter Pan and original writings in 1929.

The stage production will be adapted and directed by New Vic artistic director Theresa Heskins with aerial direction by Upswing artistic director Vicki Amedume, composition and musical direction by James Atherton and design by Liz Cooke.

Peter Pan in Scarlet will be the first production to open in the newly refurbished auditorium at Oxford Playhouse after a three year renovation.

Peter Pan in Scarlet runs at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme from 25 July to 6 August, after which it transfers to the Oxford Playhouse from 12 August to 4 September.
