NT Live to broadcast Young Vic's Streetcar Named Desire

The Tennessee Williams play will be the first collaboration between NT Live and the South London venue

A Streetcar Named Desire starring Gillian Anderson, Ben Foster and Vanessa Kirby at the Young Vic is to be broadcast to cinemas by National Theatre Live on 16 September at 7pm.

The show, which caused long queues on the Young Vic's website yesterday when further tickets were released, is directed by Benedict Andrews and is a co-production between the Young Vic and Joshua Andrews.

It marks the Young Vic Theatre's first collaboration with National Theatre Live, whose performances are broadcast via satellite to over 1100 venues in over 40 different countries around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield.

The full cast is: Gillian Anderson, Clare Burt, Lachele Carl, Branwell Donaghey, Otto Farrant, Ben Foster, Nicholas Gecks, Troy Glasgow, Stephanie Jacob, Corey Johnson (as Mitch), Vanessa Kirby and Claire Prempeh.

Tonight (17 July), NT Live is broadcasting Skylight starring Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy.
