New musical Midnight, written by Todrick Hall, will play in London for a second time, and the cast has been confirmed.
The sung-through piece is set in America’s South during the 19th century and was described as “a sweeping story of love, conflict, and the search for understanding.”
It received public workshops late last year following two closed-door showings in London and New York.
Forming the cast are Hall as Rail, Jeremy Beloate as Richard, Rachel Webb as Lily Rose, Maia Gough as Scarlet, Ayana George as Ethel, Rachel Tucker as Charlotte, Marisha Wallace as Happy, Charlotte Jaconelli as Violet, Ahmed Hamad as Squeak, Isaac J Lewis as Harry, Nick Rashad Burroughs as Horace, George Maguire as Sylvester, and Brandon Lee Sears as Rehearsal Rail.
Making up the ensemble will be Aaron Archer, Callum Macdonald, Charles Tatman, Dammi Aregbeshola, Deja Linton, India Thornton, Jenni Thomasson, Lashane Williams, Mukeni Nel, Psalms-Nissi Myers-Reid, Talia Duff, and Xavier Thomas.
Callum Bell, Jamel Matthias, Jenny Richardson, and Zarina Thompson act as swings, while Christian De Gallerie, Durone Stokes, Kelly Agbowu, and Liv Alexander are stand-bys.
As well as writing the music and lyrics, Hall also directs and choreographs. For this second developmental run, he is joined by musical supervisor Mark Crossland, casting director Harry Blumenau, casting associate Laura Seaborn, associate choreographer Jenni Thomasson, associate director Jaconelli, musical director Laurence Stannard, assistant musical director Miguel Esteban, dance captain Thornton, and assistant dance captain Linton.
Hall and Caryn Sterling are co-executive producers, while Chris Wheeler is general manager, Adam Cox is associate general manager, Toby P Darvill is production manager, Jade Hunter is deputy stage manager and Alex Mordenti and Jack Bond are assistant stage managers.
Midnight runs at Sadler’s Wells East from 20 February to 8 March 2026.
