The National Theatre has announced that BAFTA winner Anne-Marie Duff will lead the world premiere production of Some Woman at the Dorfman Theatre later this year.

As previously reported, the piece will mark Helen Edmundson’s (Small Island) first play since Queen Anne in 2015. It will be directed by Blanche McIntyre (Tartuffe).

Some Woman centres around Julie Robinson (played by Duff), who makes a stand when an encounter at a station platform goes wrong.

The creative team also includes set and costume designer Robert Jones, movement director Lucie Pankhurst and casting director Martin Poile.

The production will be staged in the Dorfman from 7 October to 21 November 2026, with a press night on 15 October.

Further casting will be announced in due course.

The news comes as part of a major season announcement from the National.
