Joy to the West End; the Mischief crew are back!

Last night, WhatsOnStage was invited to the Apollo Theatre to join in the celebrations for the official opening of the comedy troupe’s latest offering: Christmas Carol Goes Wrong.

Written by Henry LewisJonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, adapted from their 2017 BBC television special, the production was praised by our critic, hailing it as “an irresistible Christmas treat“.

We caught up with Lewis, Sayer and Shields, alongside cast members Matt Cavendish, Daniel Fraser, Sasha Frost, Chris Leask, Dumile Sibanda, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Zamit, to revel in a bit of festive cheer and you can watch the merriment unfold in the video below:

The cast also includes understudies Alex Bird, Will Bishop, Siobhan Cha Cha, Colm Gleeson and Ashley Tucker.

Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is directed by Matt DiCarlo. The show sees the return of the fictional Cornley Amateur Dramatic Society, attempting to stage the Charles Dickens classic, while managing missing actors, set problems and disagreements over casting.

The West End run continues through to 26 January before heading back on tour and visiting Nottingham Theatre Royal (27 to 31 January), the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury (3 to 7 February), the Edinburgh Festival Theatre (10 to 15 February), the King’s Theatre in Glasgow (17 to 22 February) and the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, concluding on 1 March 2026.
