The Royal Shakespeare Company’s award-winning production at the Cambridge Theatre celebrated with a cake and photo with the lucky millionth attendee
Matilda the Musical has this week celebrated welcoming its one millionth audience member to the award-winning production.
The lucky patron Laura said when told the news: "'When I was told that I was the millionth audience member, I felt really lucky. It's such a nice and memorable experience, especially as it's my birthday".
The Royal Shakespeare Company's production, with songs penned by Tim Minchin, originally opened in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010 and tells the story of a young girl with an affection for learning and friendship while her parents and headmistress, the terrifying Miss Trunchbull, try to delay her path as she tries to find her own true destiny.
The current cast includes Alex Gaumond as Miss Trunchbull, Haley Flaherty as Miss Honey and Kay Murphy as Mrs Wormwood, with the role of Matilda being shared by Cristina Fray, Georgia Pemberton, Elise Blake and Lollie McKenzie.
