Luke Evans joins Will Young and cast of Strictly Ballroom for West End opening night

Drew McOnie's production of Strictly Ballroom has opened in the West End and the show's cast, including Jonny Labey, Zizi Strallen and Will Young, were joined by guests including Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas and X Factor winner Matt Cardle, for opening night.

As director and choreographer, McOnie (In the Heights, Jesus Christ Superstar) makes his West End debut with a cast that includes Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins) as Fran, Jonny Labey (In the Heights) as Scott and Will Young (Cabaret) as Wally Strand.

In her four-star review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton praised McOnie's 'sensational and inventive' choreography.

Based on Lurhmann's 1992 film of the same name, the show has a book by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. It features the film's iconic songs including "Love is in the Air", "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" and "Time After Time".
