West End theatregoers should make more time to work around the strikes

London theatres have flagged next week’s London tube strikes.
Anyone attending the theatre between 7 and 11 September in the capital should “allow extra travel time”, with other modes of transport, likes buses or e-bikes, suggested as possibly alternatives. The award-winning production of Starlight Express also suggested patrons “take advantage of our great parking options.”
A note from West End venue operator Delfont Mackintosh said: “All performances are going ahead as scheduled. Ahead of your visit, we strongly advise planning your journey and giving yourself plenty of time to arrive at the theatre.”
London Underground workers will strike next week after talks between the RMT union and Transport for London broke down. The dispute centres on pay, fatigue from long shifts, and the RMT’s demand to cut the working week from 35 to 32 hours.
The walkouts are expected to cause severe disruption across London between Sunday 7 and early on Friday 12 September (the Elizabeth Line seems to be the least affected by the walk-outs), unless a last-minute deal is reached. Anyone thinking of travelling should check the TFL website before setting off.
Recently, international hit band Coldplay rescheduled their Wembley Stadium concerts to avoid clashing with the strikes. Two Post Malone concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have also been postponed.
As it stands, West End shows will be proceeding as scheduled.
