Little Red Riding Hood (Liverpool Everyman)

It's that time of the year again; whereby – going to the pantomime is as traditional as mince pies, Christmas trees and the Queens speech.

This year the Pantomime comes home to the newly rebuilt Everyman, which now boasts the proud title of Sterling prize for architecture, and is as big and bold as ever before. Writers Sarah A Nixon and Mark Chatterton have created yet another fast and furious script, packed from beginning to end with saucy one liners and great toe-tapping songs that gets everyone dancing in the aisles.

Back for his ninth panto run is local favourite Francis Tucker, who takes on the role of the Dame and does so brilliantly, alongside Adam Keast who plays Henry and doubles up on other roles. These two work side by side really well and it is clear to see how much fun they are having, as they cause most of the chaos and mayhem on stage. Jocasta Almgill plays a delightful Red and has some beautiful duets with the charming Sam Haywood who plays Skye.

Nicky Swift plays Pippy Petal and proved to be a hit with the audience and it was easy to see why as her amazing vocals stole the show. Playing the baddies this year, we have Jonny Bower as Wolferine and Zita Frith as Blanche De Winter and they do a fine job as evil brother and sister.

Everything comes together nicely in this show, as bright and mad as the costumes are, then so is the set, the music, lights and outrageous characters. This is a strong cast, with an incredible creative team behind them.

If there is one decision that you might need a little help with this year, then consider Little Red Riding Hood. It's funny, slick and will definitely keep the whole family entertained.
