Puppet theatre the Little Angel in Islington has announced three shows for its autumn/winter season, featuring work from Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy as well as Peter O’Rourke, Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie.

In association with the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, The Tear Thief (22 September – 4 November 2012) is adapted from Duffy’s book of the same name. With live music from composer James Hesford, this puppet show tells the “heart melting tale” of a magical fairy who steals crying children’s tears between supper and bedtime. Directed by Little Angel artistic director Peter Glanville, the show is suitable for ages 3 upwards.

It’s followed by the Little Angel’s first staging of Pinocchio, which runs from 17 November 2012 to 27 January 2013. The production, which features a script by Angela Miguel, is staged by ‘master puppeteer’ Peter O’Rourke for ages 6 and above.

Finally, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet uses puppets to portray a small dog with an enthusiastic personality who wishes to be a ballerina. The show is based on the book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie is suitable for ages 2-6, running from 5 December 2012 to 27 January 2013.
