See what’s coming up at the north London venue next year
King’s Head Theatre has announced details of its spring 2026 season, which will run from January to August and feature six productions, including two musical premieres, a revival of a celebrated gay play, a Bruntwood Prize-winning work, the latest play from Tom Salinsky and Robert Khan, and the venue’s first dance piece.
Opening the season is Already Perfect, a new musical written by and starring Tony Award winner Levi Kreis. Produced by Broadway drummer and Tony Award-winning producer Larry Lelli, the show is set in a theatre dressing room and explores themes of religion and LGBTQ+ identity. It runs from 9 January to 15 February.
Next is a revival of Phil Porter’s Blink, updated for a digital age of livestreams and surveillance. The production, staged by Metal Rabbit Productions, stars YouTube creator Abigail Thorn and is directed by Simon Paris. It runs from 19 February to 22 March.
From 26 March to 3 May, Salinsky and Khan return with In the Print, directed by Josh Roche. Set during the 1985 Battle of Wapping, the play examines Rupert Murdoch’s confrontation with print unions and the future of British newspapers.
Dance and physical theatre arrive at the venue from 6 May to 7 June with Derrière on a G String, a comic subversion of classical music directed by Alfred Taylor-Gaunt and starring Sammy Moore.
Patrick Wilde’s What’s Wrong with Angry? follows from 10 June to 5 July. First staged in 1992 and later adapted into the film Get Real, the play examines teenage sexuality in the shadow of Section 28. This revival, directed by Scott Le Crass, is co-produced with Lauren Reed Productions and will run over Pride month.
Closing the season is the world premiere of Here Comes J Edgar – A Musical Comedy, co-written by satirist Harry Shearer and Tom Leopold, with music by Peter Matz. Directed by Josh Seymour, the show explores the private life of FBI Director J Edgar Hoover through the lens of a 1950s-style musical. It runs from 10 July to 16 August.
The programme marks the third year since the theatre’s move to its new 220-seat venue in 2024. Since opening, the King’s Head has premiered new writing including The Gang of Three, Breeding and Firebird, as well as revivals and new musicals such as Stalled and King of Pangea.
Executive Producer and CEO Sofi Berenger said: “I couldn’t be more excited about this new season of work – it feels like a real landmark moment, and an indication of the work we wanted to see on our stage when we opened the new building. The momentum we’ve built is finally starting to come to fruition, and this season feels like a celebration of that journey.”
The theatre will continue its commitment to accessible pricing, with Pay What You Can performances, £10 tickets at every show, and membership schemes offering further discounts.
