The ”Downton Abbey” actor will star alongside Andrew Scott
Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay will play the role of Ophelia in the Almeida Theatre production of Hamlet, which opens at the venue in February.
Also announced today is Luke Thompson, who will play Laertes alongside the previously announced Andrew Scott as Hamlet and Juliet Stevenson as Gertrude. Robert Icke will direct the production.
Tickets for the production, which runs at the Almeida from 17 February to 8 April 2017, are now on sale.
The Almeida has also announced further casting for Mary Stuart, which runs between 2 December and 21 January with an opening night on 9 December.
Rudi Dharmalingam joins the cast which includes Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams in the play's central roles. Icke also directs the play, and will have Williams and Stevenson decide which role they will play each night at the flick of a coin.
Mary Stuart runs from 9 December 2016 to 7 January 2017. Hamlet runs from 28 February to 8 April.
