The New Alexandra Theatre has announced that the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning musical Jersey Boys will be playing a four week Christmas season in Birmingham. After previous West End musicals playing at the venue over the festive season, Jersey Boys cements its presence in providing alternative Christmas entertainment in the city, with the show playing from 9 December through 4 January.

Ghost the Musical concluded its record-breaking run at the venue at the beginning of January as part of its UK debut tour. The New Alexandra has also hosted 9 to 5 The Musical, Grease and Spamalot as its previous Christmas shows.

Jersey Boys, which has been playing in London for six years, will be touring the UK for the first time from September 2014. Birmingham will host the remarkable true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and their rise to stardom from the wrong side of the tracks. The production also continues in London at its new home of the Piccadilly Theatre from March 2014.

The show is packed with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' hits, including "Beggin’", "Sherry", "Walk Like A Man", "December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)", "Big Girls Don’t Cry", "My Eyes Adored You", "Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got)", "Bye Bye Baby", "Can’t Take My Eyes Off You", "Working My Way Back to You", "Fallen Angel", "Rag Doll" and "Who Loves You".

Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe. The UK Tour will be staged by the entire original Broadway creative team, led by director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo, with scenic design by Klara Zieglerova, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound by Steve Canyon Kennedy and projections design by Michael Clark. The orchestrations are by Steve Orich and the music supervision and vocal arrangements by Ron Melrose.

Tickets go on-sale for the Birmingham Christmas season to members on 10 Feb and to the general public on 14 Feb.
