Lee Tannen’s play I Loved Lucy will transfer to the Arts Theatre this summer, following a run at the Jermyn Street last year.

Sandra Dickinson will return in the title role of the play, which is based on Tannen’s memoir about his friendship with actress Lucille Ball. WhatsOnStage described Dickinson as 'feisty, warm, funny, and with a genuine twinkle in her eye' in a review of the original production.

Dickinson will be joined by Matthew Scott, who played Adam Hochberg in the Broadway production of An American in Paris, will make his London stage debut as Lee.

The play tells the story of the last ten years of Ball's life from Tannen's perspective. Ball was best known as the star of a number of American sitcoms such as I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show and Life with Lucy.

Jermyn Street artistic director Anthony Biggs directs the production which has designs by Gregor Donnelly.

I Loved Lucy will run at the Arts Theatre from 24 July to 2 September, with previews from 19 July.
