Heathers the Musical will return to the UK from summer 2026 for a brand-new tour, producers Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills have confirmed.

Based on the 1989 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, the show, penned by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, first premiered in Los Angeles in 2013 before transferring to New York’s New World Stages in 2014. A revised version opened in London in 2018, featuring new material that has since been incorporated into the current New York production.

The musical has played three West End runs and three UK and Ireland tours to date, winning Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards in 2019. It was also filmed for streaming on the Roku Channel in 2022.

UK tour dates and venues (including a London stop) are set to be announced in due course. Meanwhile, international audiences will also be able to catch the production in Australia and New Zealand from April 2026, with stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra, Perth, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

In New York, the current production opened in June 2025 at New World Stages, where it has been extended until 25 January 2026 following record-breaking sales. A one-off “Big Fun Day” singalong performance takes place tonight to celebrate the show’s fans. Looking ahead, the musical will tour the United States from spring 2027.

Director Andy Fickman said: “We brought our award-winning production back to New World Stages in New York and today we announced that the production will be going to Australia and New Zealand next year. I’m even more excited that we’ll be bringing the show back home to the UK for audiences new and old to experience this twistedly heartfelt story again.”

The show is directed by Fickman, with choreography by Gary Lloyd, design by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Dan Samson and musical supervision by Jeremy Wootton and Will Joy.
