Ron, Hermione and Harry have all been cast for the upcoming production of JK Rowling’s new Potter play
Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley have all been cast in the upcoming production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Parker, who is currently starting as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls at the Savoy Theatre, will play Harry. Noma Dumezweni will play Hermione. The Olivier Award-winning actress is on stage at the Royal Court in Linda after Kim Cattrall pulled out of playing the lead role. Paul Thornley, who starred in Rufus Norris' London Road, will be Ron.
The trio play the three wizards in a new story created by JK Rowling, director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne. It has been written for the stage by Thorne.
The eighth story in the Harry Potter series will be staged in two parts and follows Ron, Harry and Hermione as adults. Harry is billed as an 'overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.'
JK Rowling said: "I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer."
Further casting for the company of over 30 will be announced at a later date.
Previews begin at the Palace Theatre in London on 7 June 2016 with the opening performances of Part One and Part Two on Saturday 30 July 2016. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently booking to 27 May 2017.
