Michael Frayn’s Copenhagen will receive its first London staging since its 1998 premiere in a new production directed by Michael Longhurst.

At the north London venue from 27 March to 2 May, the play will star Alex Kingston and Richard Schiff, with further casting to be announced.

Inspired by real events, the play centres on a meeting between physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg.

Following Copenhagen, Sarah Ruhl’s Stage Kiss will make its UK premiere on Hampstead’s Main Stage, running from 8 May to 13 June in a new production directed by Blanche McIntyre. The production marks McIntyre’s second collaboration with Ruhl following Letters From Max, which was presented at Hampstead Downstairs last year.

Stage Kiss opens with a melodrama set in 1930 New York, where Ada is dying and her former lover returns from Europe for a final meeting. The story then shifts to 2011 New Haven, where two actors with a shared history rehearse a revival of a play titled The Last Kiss.

The productions join previously announced world premieres of Bird Grove by Alexi Kaye Campbell and Springwood by Richard Nelson on the Main Stage, as well as the UK premiere of award-winning musical Kimberly Akimbo. R.O.I. (Return on Investment) by Aaron Loeb, Firewing by David Pearson and the UK premiere of We Had A World by Joshua Harmon are set for Hampstead Downstairs seasons.
