Theatre fans in London were treated to a first at West End Live this past weekend.

The annual event sees thousands of people gather in Trafalgar Square for hours of free performances from West End shows. It celebrated its 20th anniversary this year with a bumper line-up.

Taking part in the celebrations was Hamilton, where the West End cast performed “Wait For It” followed by a number that had until then never been performed live.

Bente Mulan, the West End’s current Eliza Hamilton, was joined by Roxanne Couch (Schuyler Sisters stand-by), Nicola Espallardo (ensemble), Jasmine Jia Yung Shen (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), and Tamara Morgan (Stand-by) to perform “First Burn”.

The number, which was first released publicly in 2018 as part of the Hamildrops, was writer Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s first draft of the tune that went on to become “Burn”.

Miranda reposted the video of the performance that we posted on Instagram – and you can watch below – with the following message: “First live performance of “First Burn,” thanks Hamilton West End!!!”

Additionally, earlier this month, the original Broadway cast reunited to perform at the Tony Awards.
