The WhatsOnStage Awards will introduce a Best Child Performance category for the first time this year, created in association with Go Live Theatre.

The charity works to widen access to theatre for children and young people who may face financial, social or physical barriers, and serves as the official charity partner for this year’s ceremony.

Go Live Theatre runs subsidised trips to West End productions for schools and families, delivers education matinees for state school pupils and leads creative learning projects in schools and community settings. It also offers workshops, summer programmes and theatre-making initiatives designed to support confidence, communication and teamwork.

The WhatsOnStage Awards nominations were announced earlier today, with Paddington The Musical leading the way with 14 nominations.

Nominees for the new Best Child Performance award will be announced in January, with the winner chosen by Go Live Theatre.
