Glenn Close returns to Sunset Boulevard at ENO?

Glenn Close is reportedly in negotiations to make a sensational return to the role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard for a production at English National Opera.

Close originated the role on Broadway in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, just over two decades ago. She recently returned to Broadway in a production of Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance.

According to the Daily Mail, the production is "being considered for a limited run at the English National Opera either next spring or a year later, in 2017".

Writers Don Black and Christopher Hampton are working to "revise" their book for the show if the production goes ahead, adds Baz Bamigboye.

ENO recently made a commitment to staging an annual musical production. It recently presented a concert version of Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson and Bryn Terfel.
