Stephen Daldry's production of Peter Morgan's WhatsOnStage Award-winning play The Audience opened at the Apollo Theatre last night.

Mark Strong, who recently appeared in A View From the Bridge at Wyndham's Theatre, was on hand to cheer on Kristin Scott Thomas in her royal debut, playing the Queen in this new and updated version of the play.

Scott Thomas is joined by David Calder (Winston Churchill), Mark Dexter (David Cameron and Tony Blair), Michael Gould (John Major), Gordon Kennedy (Gordon Brown), Sylvestra Le Touzel (Margaret Thatcher), David Robb (Anthony Eden) and Nicholas Woodeson (Harold Wilson).

Morgan's play, which originally ran at the Gielgud Theatre, imagines a series of pivotal meetings between various prime ministers and the Queen.
