It’ll play professionally up north for the first time

Fun Home will play in Manchester in 2026.
The revival was announced as part of the Royal Exchange Theatre’s new season for next year.
Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron’s coming-out and coming-of-age musical follows cartoonist Alison Bechdel on a journey into her childhood memories, remembering what it’s like to grow up in a funeral home, undergo a sexual awakening in college, and try to make sense of the secrets at the heart of your family.
The Royal Exchange Theatre production will be directed by former artistic director Sarah Frankcom and mark the 20th anniversary of Bechdel’s own graphic novel on which the show is based.
Also on the creative team are designer Peter Butler, lighting designer Bethany Gupwell, sound designer Tony Gayle, music supervisor and musical director Matthew Malone and casting director Natalie Gallacher (For Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting).
The Tony Award-winning musical will play from 3 July to 1 August 2026.
Casting and further details are to be revealed.
