Jacob Ifan from the BBC series ”Cuffs” will make his stage debut in the play based on Dickens’ novel
Casting has been announced for the UK tour of A Tale of Two Cities, which will begin at Royal & Derngate, Northampton.
Jacob Ifan, best known for his role as PC Jake Vickers in the BBC series Cuffs, will make his professional theatre debut as Charles Darnay.
The play is based on the novel by Charles Dickens and is set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution, depicting how French peasants were treated by aristocrats.
Joseph Timms (Twelfth Night, Donmar on Broadway) will play Sydney Carton and Shanaya Rafaat (Great Expectations, West Yorkshire Playhouse) will play Lucie Manette.
The cast also includes Sue Wallace, Patrick Romer, Harry Attwell, Noa Bodner, Michael Garner, Sean Murrayand Christopher Hunter, Rebecca Birch, Jonathan Dryden Taylor and Jon Tarcy.
Adapted by Mike Poulton, the production will feature music from Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman. It will be directed by James Dacre with design by Mike Britton.
After it opens in Northampton, the production tours to Oxford, Richmond, Bradford, Blackpool, Wolverhampton, Brighton, Edinburgh, Cheltenham and Nottingham.
A Tale of Two Cities opens at Royal & Derngate, Northampton on 14 September before embarking on a UK tour.
