Full cast announced for East is East with Jane Horrocks

Sam Yates’ production, part of Jamie Lloyd’s ”Trafalgar Transformed” season, opens at the Trafalgar Studios in October

Full casting has been announced for the upcoming production of East is East, part of Jamie Lloyd's second Trafalgar Transformed season at the Trafalgar Studios.

Joining the previously announced Jane Horrocks as Ella Khan and Ayub Khan Din as George Khan in Sam Yates' production will be the rest of the Khan family – Amit Shah (Abdul Khan), Ashley Kumar (Tariq Khan), Darren Kuppan (Maneer Khan), Nathan Clarke (Saleem Khan), Taj Atwal (Meenah Khan) and Michael Karim (Sajit Khan).

The cast is completed by Sally Bankes (Auntie Annie), Rani Moorthy (Mrs. Shah), Hassani Shapi (Mr Shah/Doctor) and Ash Rizi, Karl Seth, Deepal Parmar and Pamela Bennett (ensemble).

Ayub Khan Din's play, which was made into a successful 1999 film starring Om Puri and Linda Bassett, looks at the tensions in a family in Salford. It runs from 4 October 2014 to 3 January 2015.

Amit Shah's stage credits include several shows at the National Theatre and Rough Cuts (Royal Court). Ashley Kumar's credits include Tartuffe (Birmingham Rep) and Commercial Road (Hackney Empire). Darren Kuppan has appeared in East is East (Birmingham Rep) and Rafta Rafta (Bolton Octagon).

Nathan Clarke's stage credits include Pigeons (Royal Court) and Privacy (Donmar Warehouse) and Taj Atwal's include All Our Daughters (New Vic) and Small Fish Big Cheese (Unicorn). Michael Karin has been in Skane (Hampstead) and Mogadishu (Royal Exchange).

East is East is designed by Tom Scutt, with lighting by Richard Howell and sound and music by Alex Baranowski.
