Kwame Kwei-Armah directs a cast including Nikki Amuka-Bird in Elinor Cook’s new adaptation of Ibsen’s drama
Rehearsal images have been released for Elinor Cook's new adaptation of Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea, which opens at the Donmar Warehouse next month.
Kwame Kwei-Armah returns to the venue – following his hit staging of One Night In Miami – to direct a cast including Nikki Amuka-Bird (God Bless The Child, Royal Court), Ellie Bamber (High Society, Old Vic), Finbar Lynch (Richard III, Almeida Theatre) and Tom McKay (Frost/Nixon, Donmar Warehouse).
They are joined by Jake Fairbrother, Jim Findley, Jonny Holden and Helena Wilson.
Amuka-Bird plays Ellida, a lighthouse-keeper's daughter, who is trapped in her marriage and longs for the sea.
The production will have design by Tom Scutt, lighting by Lee Curran, sound by Emma Laxton and is composed by Michael Bruce.
The Lady from the Sea runs at the Donmar Warehouse from 18 October to 2 December, with previews from 12 October.
