Birmingham Royal Ballet is to dance its first ever Cinderella when company director David Bintley choreographs a new production for the troupe next year.

Although both The Royal Ballet and English National Ballet have versions of the popular family ballet, BRB has not previously danced the famous fairytale. Bintley will use Sergei Prokofiev’s well-known score, with new designs by John Macfarlane and lighting by David Finn.

Bintley said: ‘I’m very excited to work on a new production of Cinderella. Not only I am delighted to work with John Macfarlane, David Finn and the company’s new music director Koen Kessels, but 2010 also marks Birmingham Royal Ballet’s 20th anniversary year in Birmingham. The announcement of a new production shows the company continues to go from strength to strength in this great city.’
