Everybody's Talking About Jamie film to hold open auditions

Warp Films have announced they are looking for the film’s primary cast

The new film of Everybody's Talking About Jamie will find its primary cast through open auditions.

Originally announced at a press conference in late spring, Warp Films have been looking for cast members since the early part of 2018, with initial auditions held in Sheffield. The search will now be nationwide, with the search on for the lead role of Jamie New.

At the event in spring, a representative for Warp said: "We don't want this to be stage school kids, we want this to be anyone and everyone, so if you think someone is special get them to sign up."

The casting website says the company are looking for applications from people aged 16 years and upward, but they must look 16 years-old. There are no other restrictions on how an applicant should look.

Anyone under 18 will need parental permission to apply. Successful shortlisted applicants will be contacted by Shaheen Baig Casting by email.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is currently running in the West End and originally opened at Sheffield Theatres. Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae wrote the musical, which is based on a documentary about a 16 year-old boy who wants to be a drag queen.

The production is directed by Jonathan Butterell, with designs by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Kate Prince and musical direction by Theo Jamieson.

Warp Films' previous projects include This Is England, Donkey Punch and Four Lions.
