Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage will return to London later this year.

The show, previously slated for a 2025 opening but subsequently moved by a year, will be opening at the new Capital Theatre from 16 October 2026, with a gala performance scheduled for 6 November. The production is currently boking until 21 March 2027.

Produced by Karl Sydow in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions, the stage version is written by Eleanor Bergstein, who also wrote the original film screenplay. The show features the characters and dialogue from the 1987 film as it follows Baby’s visit to Kellerman’s resort, where she meets dance instructor Johnny Castle.

The production has been reconceived for the 676-seat venue by director Federico Bellone, who also designs the set. Choreography is by Chiara Vecchi, with musical supervision by Richard John. The creative team also includes lighting designer Valerio Tiberi, sound designer Chris Whybrow, associate director Juliet Gough, costume designer Chiara Donato, casting director Harry Blumenau, production manager Stuart Tucker and associate set designer Lucy Fowler. The associate producer is Russ Spencer and the co-producer is Ivan Mactaggart, with general management by New Road Theatricals.

The show features a live band and a company of more than 40 performers, performing songs from the film’s soundtrack including “Hungry Eyes”, “Hey Baby”, “Do You Love Me?” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”.

The original stage production opened at the Aldwych Theatre in 2006, where it ran for five years. A UK and Ireland tour of the production is scheduled to run from August 2026 to May 2027.
