Daniel Brine is to become the director of the Norwich and Norfolk Festival.

Brine replaces William Galinsky who announced his departure earlier this year after running the festival for seven years.

The director arrives direct from being head of Cambridge Junction. Before working at the venue he was artistic director and chief executive officer at Performance Space in Australia. He has also worked at an associate director at Live Art Development Agency.

The Norwich and Norfolk Festival is the east of England's flagship arts organisation. Brine will continue to programme the work across performance, theatre, music, visual arts, literature, children's events and large-scale free outdoor events.

The festival runs this year from Thursday 11 to Sunday 27 May.

Brine said: "It's a huge honour to be appointed Norfolk & Norwich Festival’s next Festival Director. I live in East England and am committed to bringing great arts to the region. It’s a great privilege to lead a regional
flagship event of international standing and I’m keen to work with local arts and cultural
partners to continue the festival’s success."
