Dancer Paul Liburd and choreographer Nina Rajarani were awarded MBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List on 13 June 2009.
Paul Liburd has been a soloist with Scottish Ballet since 2004 after a long career with London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Irek Mukhamedov & Dancers and Rambert Dance Company. In January 2005, he received the Dance Critics’ Circle award for Best Male Dancer (Contemporary).
Nina Rajarani runs a school of dance based at the Harrow Arts Centre, Middlesex, as well as her own performance company, Srishti. She won The Place Prize in 2006. Rajarani is currently an associate artist of Akademi, the South Asian Dance agency.
