Derby Theatre and Northern Stage have announced full casting for a new production of Little Shop of Horrors.

The production will be opening at Northern Stage from 8 to 23 May 2026 before transferring to Derby Theatre from 30 May to 20 June 2026.

As already confirmed, set to star as Seymour will be Kristian Cunningham, while Audrey will be played by Amena El-Kindy. Joining them are the Emmanuella Chede (9 to 5), Shekinah Mcfarlane (Six) and Chioma Uma (A Knight’s Tale), who will play Chiffon, Crystal and Ronette.

Tasha Dowd (Vernon Girls) will provide the voice of Audrey II, while Ross Lennon (Dinosaur World Live) will puppeteer Audrey II alongside Dowd.

David Rankine (Grease) will play Orin, Jon Bonner will play Mr Mushnik, while Wilf Stone and Hannah Woodward form the ensemble – they will also cover the roles of Audrey and Seymour for the performances on Wednesday 20 May at 2pm at Northern Stage and Thursday 18 June at 2pm at Derby Theatre.

Amy Gray joins the company as drummer, while the creative team includes Sarah Brigham as director, Matthew Malone as orchestrator and musical supervisor, Verity Quinn as set and costume designer, Myles Brown as choreographer, Ben Glover as AV and caption designer, Sian Campbell as musical director, KJ as lighting designer, John Barber as puppet director, Debbie O’Brien as casting director, Anita Gilbert as voice coach, Alexandra Whiteley as assistant director and Emma Harris as consultant.

With music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, the cult musical follows flower shop worker Seymour who discovers a plant that feeds on human blood, leading to fame, fortune and deadly consequences. Songs include “Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Suddenly Seymour” and “Feed Me (Git It!).”

Accessible performances at Derby Theatre include BSL-interpreted, audio-described, dementia-friendly and relaxed performances across June 2026.

The production is separate to a Manchester and Liverpool revival, opening in the autumn of 2026. Another revival in Exeter is also on its way – a true arcade of Little Shops for 2026.
