Charlie Stemp and Elaine Paige to star in London Palladium panto

Stemp will take on the title role in the production of ”Dick Whittington”

Charlie Stemp and Elaine Paige will star in this year's London Palladium pantomime, Dick Whittington.

Stemp is currently starring as Arthur Kipps in Half a Sixpence at the Noel Coward Theatre, for which he won a WhatsOnStage Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He will take on the title role.

Paige, who originated the role of Grizabella in Cats, will play Queen Rat in the panto which runs from 9 December.

Dance troupe Diversity with Ashley Banjo and actor Gary Wilmot will also feature in the production as The Sultan and his Entourage and Sarah the Cook.

They will join the previously announced Julian Clary (Spirit of the Bells), Nigel Havers (Captain Nigel) and Paul Zerdin (Idle Jack).

Last year's production of Cinderella, which starred Amanda Holden, saw pantomime return to the theatre for the first time in 29 years.

Dick Whittington will run at the London Palladium from 9 December to 14 January.
