Casting announced for Royal Court's Torn and Father Comes Home From The Wars

Casting has been announced for two productions at the Royal Court: Torn and Father Comes Home from the Wars.

The cast of Torn will feature Franc Ashman as 2nd Twin alongside Lorna Brown who plays Aunty L and Kirsty Bushell as Aunty J. The play is about a family marred by secrets, where the youngest of the family, Angel, calls a family meeting to sort it out.

Roger Griffiths, James Hillier, Osy Ikhile, Adelle Leonce, Indra Ové and Jamel Westman complete the cast. The play, written by Nathaniel Martello-White, will be directed by Richard Twyman.

Father Comes Home From The Wars will see Tom Bateman play Smith, Jimmy Akingbola as Homer and and Dex Lee as Fourth/Odyssey Dog. The three-part play is about slavery in the US and how it influenced the African-American experience.

The cast is completed by Sibusiso Mamba, Nadine Marshall, Sarah Niles, Jason Pennycooke, John Stahl, Steve Toussaint and Leo Wringer.

The play is written by Suzan-Lori Parks and will be directed by Jo Bonney.

Torn runs at the Royal Court from 7 September until 15 October. Father Comes Home from the Wars will run from 15 September until 22 October.
