Cast set for The Picture of Dorian Gray tour

Jack Crumlin will lead the cast of a new production of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, adapted and directed by Seán Aydon.

Crumlin, who appeared as Lonnie Byers in Stranger Things: The First Shadow and To Kill a Mockingbird in the West End, will play Dorian Gray. Mark Oxtoby, whose credits include Back to the Future and The Phantom of the Opera, will play Basil Hallward, while Mark Hawkins, who has appeared in The Woman in Black in the West End and on tour, will play Lord Henry Wotton.

The production will also feature Lydia Whitehead as Sybil Vane, Ayesha Griffiths as Catherine Vane, Lydea Perkins as Lady Victoria Wotton and Max Burnett as Romeo.

Based on Wilde’s only novel, the production follows Dorian Gray, a young man whose portrait ages in his place while he remains outwardly youthful. Aydon’s adaptation and production will open at Watford Palace Theatre on 1 October 2026 before touring the UK. The tour is presented by Tilted Wig in association with Watford Palace Theatre.

The creative team includes set and costume designer Sarah Beaton, lighting designer Peter Small, sound designer Russell Ditchfield and fight director and intimacy co-ordinator Kaitlin Howard.

After opening at Watford Palace Theatre from 1 to 3 October 2026, the production will play Shakespeare North Playhouse from 7 to 10 October, Eastbourne Theatres from 13 to 17 October, Theatre by the Lake from 20 to 24 October, Theatr Clwyd from 27 to 31 October and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford from 3 to 7 November.
