Casting has been confirmed for the West End run of Gerry and Sewell.
Written and directed by Olivier Award-winner Jamie Eastlake and co-produced by Newcastle Theatre Royal, Gerry and Sewell is based on Jonathan Tulloch’s novel The Season Ticket, which was later adapted into the cult Geordie film Purely Belter.
It follows two men and their mission to get their hands on a Newcastle United season ticket and is described as a “love letter” to the city and “a universal story of perseverance, loyalty and hope.”
The show premiered in 2022 at Laurels pub theatre in North Tyneside and has played across Newcastle, where it’ll return in June 2026.
As already confirmed, original cast members will reprise their roles. They include Dean Logan as Gerry, Jack Robertson as Sewell and the multi-roling Becky Clayburn – all making their West End debuts (three of eleven cast members to do so) at the Aldwych Theatre – alongside Erin Mullen as Bridget McCarten and Matty Renton as Journo.
Set to join them are Bill Fellows as Mr McCarten and Katherine Dow Blyton as Mrs McCarten, while Chelsea Halfpenny will play Claire McCarten.
The cast is completed by Helen Chong, Alicia Meehan, Dylan Duffy, Patrick Ziza and Kyle Potter.
Joining Eastlake on the creative team are associate directors Rosie Bowden and James Callàs Ball, movement directors Lucy Curry and Sean Moon, musical director Declan Flannery, set designers Richard Power, Rosie Power and Joe Power, lighting designer Drummond Orr, composer Aidan Tulloch, puppet designer and maker Georgia Hill, and general manager Alex Turner.
Gerry and Sewell will play at the Aldwych Theatre from 13 January to 24 January 2026.
