The full cast and creative team for Noël Coward’s The Rat Trap, reimagined by Bill Rosenfield, has been revealed.
The production marks the centenary year of Coward’s first play and follows Troupe’s recent work on The Forsyte Saga Parts 1 and 2, currently playing at the RSC.
The previously announced Ewan Miller, Lily Nichol and Angela Sims will be joined by Daniel Abbott, Gina Bramhill, Zoe Goriely and Ailsa Joy. Miller plays Keld Maxwell, with Nichol as Sheila Brandreth and Sims as Burrage, while Abbott appears as Edmund Crowe, Bramhill as Olive Lloyd-Kennedy, Goriely as Ruby Raymond and Joy as Naomi Frith-Bassington. Kirsty Patrick Ward directs the production.
Set in 1920s Belgravia, the play follows novelist Sheila and playwright Keld as they navigate marriage, ambition and professional rivalry. Written when Coward was 18 and first staged in 1926, the play is presented in a revised version by Rosenfield.
The creative team includes Libby Watson as set and costume designer, Jamie Platt as lighting designer, Ed Lewis as sound designer and composer, Ingrid Mackinnon as movement director and Claire Llewellyn for Rc-Annie as fight director. Two additional evening performances have been added on 2 and 9 March at 7.30pm.
The Rat Trap is presented by Ashley Cook for Troupe in association with Park Theatre and will play in the Park200 space. It will run at Park Theatre from 28 January to 14 March, with an audio-described performance will take place on Saturday 14 February, with a captioned performance on Wednesday 11 February. The production is recommended for audiences aged 12 and over.
