The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is heading to the Royal Festival Hall
Jamie Muscato (Moulin Rouge! the Musical, Heathers) is set to star as Billy Bigelow in a one-night-only concert staging of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel this July.
Muscato will be joined on stage by Christine Allado (Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, The Prince of Egypt) as Julie Jordan and Rebecca Caine (Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera) as Nettie Fowler. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
The production will be directed by Emma Butler (Side Show in Concert) with musical direction by Adam Hoskins (Once: in Concert).
Carousel originally premiered on Broadway in 1945. It follows an ill-fated romance between a carousel barker named Billy Bigelow and millworker Julie Jordan and features such standards as “If I Loved You”, “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. It was also named as Time magazine’s ‘Best Musical of the 20th Century’.
Carousel will be staged at the Royal Festival Hall at 7pm on Saturday, 13 July 2024, with tickets on sale from Thursday, 25 April.
