Brendan Gleeson in The Weir – photos released

Production photographs of Conor McPherson’s The Weir, starring Brendan Gleeson have been revealed.

Set across an evening in a rural County Leitrim pub, the Olivier Award-winning play sees the regulars share stories about folklore, ghosts, and fairies with a young woman recently arrived from Dublin, before she tells her tale.

Now also directed by McPherson, the piece is currently in Dublin, ahead of a limited run in the West End.

The performance will mark Gleeson’s West End debut and his return to the stage after a decade. The show is staged by Kate Horton Productions and Landmark Productions.

Joining him is Owen McDonnell (Bad Sisters, Killing Eve) as Brendan, Seán McGinley (That They May Face the Rising Sun, The Brightening Air) as Jim, Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders, Wolf Hall) as Valerie and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Dancing at Lughnasa, Say Nothing) as Finbar.

Also on the creative team are Rae Smith (set and costume design), Mark Henderson (lighting design), Gregory Clarke (sound design) and Amy Ball (casting director).

The Weir will play at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Thursday, 11 September to Saturday, 6 December. Tickets for the London run are on sale below.
