In addition to Peter Hall’s annual season (See Today’s Other Goss), another production tipped by the Daily Mail to launch from the Theatre Royal Bath this summer, ahead of an anticipated West End transfer, is of Alan Ayckbourn’s 1965 comedy Relatively Speaking. Peter Bowles and Angela Thorne, who previously starred in the 1980s sitcom To the Manor Born, are due to reunite in Alan Strachan’s stage revival.
Strachan directed this winter’s revival of Ayckbourn’s 1972 comedy Absurd Person Singular, which was the first Ayckbourn in the West End since the start of the playwright’s self-imposed moratorium in 2002. Starring Jane Horrocks and John Gordon Sinclair, it recently finished its limited run at the Garrick Theatre.
