Howard Brenton’s show opens the newly built NST City theatre
The full casting for Howard Brenton's The Shadow Factory has been announced, with Anita Dobson and Shala Nyx joining the production.
Dobson, a stage and screen veteran who played Angie Watts in EastEnders and has stage credits including Wicked and The Merry Wives of Windsor, will play the roles of Lady Cooper and Ma. Nyx , who plays Polly, previously appeared in Cookies and Every You, Every Me.
They join a previously announced cast including Catherine Cusack, Daniel York, David Birrell and Lorna Fitzgerald.
Brenton's play, directed by Samuel Hodges, is based on the experiences of the Southampton community in the midst of the Second World War, building Spitfires while dealing with incessant German bombing.
The piece is the inaugural production at NST City, which is situated in the heart of the city and has a 450 seat main house alongside a 133 seat studio. It is part of the city's Studio 144 initiative to build a new arts facility.
The Shadow Factory runs at the NST City, Southampton from 16 February to 2 March.
