Playwright Alan Ayckbourn was among guests at the Menier Chocolate Factory last night for the opening night of Lindsay Posner's production of his Communicating Doors.

The show stars Rachel Tucker, recently seen in Sting's The Last Ship on Broadway, alongside Imogen Stubbs, David Bamber, Lucy Briggs-Owen and Matthew Cottle.

Running from 7 May to 27 June, Communicating Doors sees hired dominatrix Poopay (Tucker) flee for her life through a hotel communicating door only to find herself 20 years in the past.

The play premiered in 1994 and won Ayckbourn the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Best West End Play Award as well as the Molière Award in France.
