The show had its West End opening night last night following a run at the Almeida earlier in the year
Directed by Rebecca Frecknall, the piece stars Patsy Ferran as Alma, the daughter of a reverend who falls in love with the doctor's son (Matthew Needham) next door.
In his five-star review of the transfer, Alun Hood said Frecknall's version was: "a visionary production and likely to be a career-changing one for its director and stars. Go and wallow in it."
Guests including Fiona Bruce, Andrew Scott, Zoë Wanamaker, Anna Chancellor, Indira Varma, Toby Jones and more all appeared at the Duke of York's Theatre to celebrate the opening.
The show is designed by Tom Scutt with lighting from Lee Curran, sound from Carolyn Downing and composition from Angus MacRae
