Exclusive: Susan Eve Haar’s play Echo will run at the King’s Head Theatre later this summer.

The piece, previously titled Paper Doll, has been seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at 59E59 in New York.

The production will be directed by Abigail Zealey Bess and features Amara Okereke and Kyle Rowe in the cast. Playing dates are from from 18 July to 17 August 2025, with opening night scheduled for Tuesday 22 July.

Set in a remote bed and breakfast in upstate New York, the play begins with a couple celebrating their tenth anniversary. As the evening unfolds, their interactions turn unsettling, culminating in a disturbing encounter that changes everything. Two decades later, another couple arrives at the same location to scatter ashes.

Design is by Peiyao Wang, with lighting by Daniel Carter-Brennan, sound by Julian Starr, video and projection by Matt Powell, and casting by Nicholas Hockaday.
