Unicorn announces autumn/winter season

Artistic director Purni Morell has unveiled her new season at the Unicorn Theatre, the UK’s only theatre purpose built for younger audiences

It opens with Othello: the Remix, a reworked version of Shakespeare’s tragedy from the Q Brothers, which runs from 12 September to 29 September 2013.

The season also features another Shakespeare play re-imagined for younger audiences, Henry the Fifth, which runs from 11 October 2013 to 16 November 2013 (previews from 8 October 2013).

Easter 2014 will see a stage version of children’s classic The Velveteen Rabbit (21 March-9 April) directed by Morell, and the venue’s Christmas show’s include Olivier-nominated Cinderella: A Fairytale (26 November-5 January) and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas for under fives.

The Southwark venue will also play host to Hannah, a new play based on Dr Faustus, running from 12 February to 7 March 2014 (previews from 8 February), as well as staging shows for under fives including Dora and Not Now, Bernard.

The season will also see Inua Ellam’s Cape and a Unicorn/Tangere co-production of The Pardoner’s Tale. It concludes with Mark Arends’ At The End of Everything Else, running from 1-19 April 2014 (previews from 29 March).
