National Theatre and Disney's Pinocchio in rehearsals
The adaptation of the Disney classic comes to the National in December
Photos have been released showing the cast and crew of the National Theatre's production of Pinocchio in rehearsals, as the show moves towards its opening in December.
Starring Joe Idris-Roberts, Annette McLaughlin and Audrey Brisson, the piece adapts Disney's classic animation Pinocchio for the Lyttelton stage, with writing from Dennis Kelly (Matilda) and direction from John Tiffany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).
The musical will see the wooden Pinocchio (Idris Roberts), alongside good friend Jiminy Cricket (Brisson), embark on a journey to make the puppet a real boy. The show will include such classics as "I've Got No Strings", "Give a Little Whistle" and "When You Wish upon a Star".
Songs and score are provided by original Disney composers Leigh Harline, Ned Washington and Paul J. Smith, newly adapted by Martin Lowe. The show will have design and puppet co-design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Paule Constable, music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe, choreography by Steven Hoggett, puppetry and puppet co-design by Toby Olié, sound design by Simon Baker and illusions by Jamie Harrison.
Pinocchio is running at the National from 13 December through to April 2018, with previews from 1 December.
