Theatre Highlights of the Week: Dorfman opens, John Hannah returns, Gina Beck and Daniel Boys
Monday 13 October
Here Lies Love opens at the Dorfman Theatre.
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love opens the new Dorfman Theatre (formerly the Cottesloe) this week.
The show, a conceptual musical about infamous former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos, premiered at the Public Theater in New York last year.
Running until 8 January, Here Lies Love is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Annie-B Parson.

Uncle Vanya opens at St James Theatre.
John Hannah makes his return to the stage following a six year absence in Anya Reiss' adaptation of Chekhov's classic, Uncle Vanya. The second production in the Open Stage season at St James Theatre, Uncle Vanya runs at the theatre until 8 November directed by Russell Bolam and produced by Emily Dobbs.

Tuesday 14 October
The Songs of Daniel and Laura Curtis plays the Royal Albert Hall.
Some of the West End's leading performers come together for one night only to sing the work of Daniel and Laura Curtis.
Daniel and Laura are best known for their album "Love on 42nd Street" which was released in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal. The evening will feature music from "Love on 42nd Street" as well as premiering a number of new songs, performed by stars including Lucie Jones (Les Miserables and The X Factor), Alexander Hanson (Stephen Ward, Jesus Christ Superstar), Cassie Compton (Les Miserables, Wicked), Rebecca Caine (Phantom Of The Opera, Les Miserables), Chloe Hart (Hairspray, Wicked) and more.
Wednesday 15 October
East is East opens at the Trafalgar Studios.
Ayub Khan Din's play, which was made into a successful 1999 film starring Om Puri and Linda Bassett, looks at the tensions in a family in Salford.
Sam Yates' production stars Jane Horrocks as Ella Khan and Ayub Khan Din as George Khan.
It runs until 3 January 2015.

Thursday 16 October
The Cherry Orchard opens at the Young Vic.
Dominic Rowan, Kate Duchêne, Angus Wright, Gawn Grainger and Paul Hilton will lead the cast of Katie Mitchell's production of The Cherry Orchard, which runs at the Young Vic until 29 November.
Chekhov's classic will be performed in a new English language version by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens, who previously adapted Ibsen's A Doll's House for the Young Vic. Rowan, who starred in that production, will play Alexander Lopakhin in The Cherry Orchard.
Mitchell has previously directed Chekhov's Uncle Vanya for the Young Vic, and Three Sisters, Ivanov and The Seagull at the National Theatre.

Our Town opens at the Almeida Theatre.
David Cromer directs and performs in his "intimate version" of Thornton Wilder's Our Town.
Cromer's production of Our Town ran for over a year at the Barrow Street Theatre in New York where it won multiple awards.

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris opens at the Charing Cross Theatre.
Daniel Boys and Gina Beck lead the cast of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, which runs at the Charing Cross Theatre until 22 November 2014.
Directed by Andrew Keates, Jacques Brel… is a musical homage to Brel, one of the most prolific Belgian singer-songwriters of all time. The production uses the English translation of the 2006 off-Broadway version, which was the most successful revival of the show.
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris also features in the cast David Burt (The Merchant of Venice, Plague Over England) and Eve Polycarpou (In the Heights, Mother Courage).
