The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Death of a Salesman starring Antony Sher will transfer to the West End, opening at the Noel Coward Theatre on 9 May 2015.

Gregory Doran's production, which has won critical acclaim for its run in Stratford-upon-Avon, is part of the centenary celebrations for playwright Arthur Miller.

Miller's 1949 Pulitzer prize-winning play centres on the failed dreams and thwarted ambitions of a 60-something salesman living in Brooklyn. The last major revival in the UK was in the West End in 2005 starring Brian Dennehy.

The transfer will feature the entire Stratford cast, which also includes Harriet Walter, Alex Hassell and Sam Marks. The run will last for ten weeks, until 18 July 2015. It finishes its Stratford run on 2 May 2015.

Gregory Doran said: "Death of a Salesman is, without doubt in my mind, the greatest American play of the 20th Century and it has taken its rightful place, alongside Shakespeare, on our main stage in Stratford-upon-Avon, to mark the centenary of Arthur Miller’s birth. I am delighted we are able to share this production with London audiences at the Noël Coward Theatre."
