If you missed its UK premiere last summer at the Menier Chocolate Factory (See News, 13 Jun 2006), you’d better act fast to catch Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years in the West End. Prior to a run at Edinburgh Fringe, the musical two-hander will have a preview, for one night only, at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue on Friday 3 August 2007. The semi-autobiographical song cycle about a marital breakdown is told by the man, starting at the couple’s first meeting and ending in the present, and by the woman, working backwards from the break-up. Nadim Naaman and Hannah Wilding, both graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, star in the new production. Londoners will have another chance to catch Jason Robert Brown’s work when the American’s Tony Award-winning 1998 musical Parade is mounted at the Donmar Warehouse in September (See News, 14 Jun 2007) .
